Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It was great to see so many of you gathered together for our Mass and Parish Picnic. Preparing for this 75th anniversary event was a major undertaking, involving months of planning and a lot of hard work by generous volunteers. In a special way, I thank Diane Wright and her special events committee for coordinating everything, and for bringing together so many parish leaders to make it happen.
Our final two 75th Anniversary events: Mass and Commemoration of the 1958 Dedication of the Our Lady of Oak Ridge Peace Statue, October 17th at 6 pm; and Saint Mary Parish Open House November 5th at 6 pm. I thank John Hough and the 75th Anniversary Special Committee for coordinating these events.
As we very sadly prepare to bid farewell to Father Collins, please join me in joyfully welcoming Father Pontian Kiyimba, A.J., presently of All Saints Parish, to our parish pastoral staff, effective October 15th. A special committee of the pastoral council is preparing both a proper send-off for Father Collins, and a warm reception for Father Pontian.
I thank everyone who participated in last week’s Open Forum. Our next Open Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17th, from 6:45 pm to 7:45 pm.
Mass schedule for the Solemnity of All Saints: October 31st at 6 pm; November 1st at 6:30 am, 8 am, 12:10 pm, and in Spanish at 7 pm. Mass schedule for the Commemoration of All Souls: November 2nd at 6:30 am, 8 am, 12:10 pm, 6 pm and in Spanish at 7 pm.
Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception: Friday, December 7th at 6 pm; Saturday, December 8th at 8 am, in Spanish at 12 noon and in English at 5 pm (N.B.: not 5:30 pm!).
Happy 75th Anniversary!
In Christ,
Father Shelton
