Resumption Update No. 6

Founders Day Picnic: On the Octave Day of the Assumption, our parish feast day, we will have a cookout and outdoor picnic.  You will be able to pick up your order and enjoy it either at home or outdoors around the parish grounds.  Details TBA soon. Bishop Adrian of Nashville established Saint Mary Parish as a community of the Diocese of Nashville, with Father Joseph Siener as our first pastor, on August 22nd, 1943.

Solemnity of the Assumption: The solemn feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary falls on a Saturday this year, so Mass attendance is not obligatory. Each household, however, should find fitting ways to celebrate this great event in the life of our Blessed Mother. This solemnity also marks the traditional beginning of eight days of prayer culminating in the Octave Day of the Assumption, our parish feast day.

Prayer for Peace and Blessings: Many parishioners are joining together in prayer for peace and blessings upon the upcoming federal elections. If you would like to be part of this effort, then please meditate upon the mysteries of our salvation with the Holy Rosary every day from the Solemnity of the Assumption through October 7th, praying for peace and blessings, and offering thanksgiving. If possible, arrange for your family to come to the church and pray before our side altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Our Parish School: Students have returned to our school for an exciting academic year. Please keep them in your prayers as they grow in virtue and as they learn much about the world they’ll one day inherit. Please pray also for our dedicated teachers and support staff. And thank you for your generosity, which keeps our school shining as a beacon of truth.

Saint Mary Chapel Security: Please remember that, in order to protect the Most Blessed Sacrament, Saint Mary Chapel is now accessible by keycard only, effective Saturday, August 1, and will be so until we can return the Blessed Sacrament to the Saint John Paul II Perpetual Adoration Chapel (post-pandemic).  Contact the parish office to request a keycard, 482-2875.  Nighttime access (9 pm – 6 am) is restricted to members of the St. John Paul II Perpetual Adoration Society. Seating capacity is strictly limited to two households at a time for the duration of the pandemic.
