Academic Excellence
All the elementary Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Knoxville are required to administer the Iowa Assessments (IA), Form G, to students in grades 3-8 and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Form 8, to students in grades K, 2, 4, and 6. In addition, in the spring during the testing window set by the Tennessee Department of Education, St. Mary’s School administers the End of Course (EOC) Algebra 1 to 8th grade students who are enrolled in the Algebra 1 class. Students in the public schools are required to pass this test as one of their high school graduation requirements.
Algebra 1 Proficiency:
- 98% of all Algebra I students have scored Advanced on the State End of Course exam.
- 100% of all Algebra I students have qualified for placement in Geometry I for their freshman year.
- 50% of these students qualified to take both Geometry I and Algebra II for their freshman year.
