Clubs and Activities

Year Round Clubs

Plants and Pillars Youth Groups – Grades 5-8

Plants and Pillars is a Catholic Youth Ministry program for girls and boys in 5th – 8th grade to grow in knowledge of their Catholic faith, friendship with Christ, and make a difference and positive impact on their families, friends and in the world around them.

Cub Scouts – Grades 1-5

Cub Scouting shapes its activities around the family. Parents can help with projects and advancement programs at home. Cub Scouts meet weekly. Cub Scouting is “fun with a purpose” and capitalizes on a young boy’s interests. Camping and other outdoor activities are also part of the fun! Cub Scouting builds self-esteem, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging. Adventure awaits!

All Cub Scout Leaders are parent volunteers. Pack Meetings are the 3rd Thursday of each month. There is a fee each year to join.

Girl Scouts – Grades K-8

All Leaders are parent volunteers.
K-1st grade Daisy Scouts
2nd-3rd grade Brownies
4th-5th grade Junior Girl Scouts
6th-8th grade Cadettes

Crusader Ensemble – Grades 4-8

Directed by Carol Villaverde. Auditioned choral group that rehearses one time a week from 3-4:20pm from September through May. Ensemble will sing at school concerts for Anderson and Knox County community performance opportunities. Students will also receive assistance in preparing for auditions and possible participation in TN Music Education Association State Treble Honor Choir and the East TN Vocal Association All-East Middle School Regional Honor Choir. There is a fee for participation.

Young People’s Choir (YPC) – Grades 4-8

Directed by Kathy Mesmer. Weekly rehearsal commitment – Wednesday 2:15-3:30pm during school; Saturdays 10-11:30am during the summer This is a sacred music choir that prepares young voices for the music liturgy of All School Masses, one Sunday Mass a month, Stations of the Cross, and other events throughout the year. These young students will increase their knowledge in scripture and return their God-given talents back to the Lord for God’s glory.

Chess Club

Chess Club meets on most Wednesdays in the Columbus Hall. Great fun for all ages!

 

 

 

 

Seasonal Clubs

Fantasy of Trees – Grades 3-8

This club meets weekly from Sept. through Nov. Children create art projects to decorate a 7-foot Christmas tree, which is donated to the Fantasy of Trees benefit for East TN Children’s Hospital. Club is limited to 20 students.

 

Gingerbread House Club – Grades 6-8

This club meets weekly from Sept. through Nov. from 3-4:15pm. Children create gingerbread houses, which are donated to the Fantasy of Trees benefit for East TN Children’s Hospital.

Clay & Pottery Wheel Classes – Grades 3-8

February and April, 3-4pm on Tuesday or Thursday. Limit 12 students/day. Fee $60 for supplies and snacks

 

 

 

Culinary Club – Grades 6-8

This club meets in the fall and teaches student basic food preparation. The final event is a dinner served to the parents of the participating students.

 

Garden Club – Grades K-8

Meets one time per week during the spring. There is a limit to the number of students who can participate. No fee.
