ST. MARY’S COLUMBARIUM

St. Mary’s Columbarium provides a consecrated resting place at our church for urns containing the ashes of deceased parishioners, their families, and former members of our parish. Members of other parishes may be accepted upon approval of the Columbarium Board.

The structures at our columbarium site were fabricated of Minnesotan Carnelian granite and are located in a garden setting at the turnpike entrance of the church. The garden site has two octagonal columbarium units and one standing wall unit. Each octagonal columbarium unit contains 96 niches, each niche accommodates the ashes of two people, for a total of 192 persons per unit. The wall unit has 100 individual niches. A one-time subscription cost for a niche varies on location. A niche in the wall unit is $2,500, a niche in the octagonal units is $1,500 or $2,000 depending on location, The ono-time cost includes two bronze urns and a memorial plaque.

The columbarium is maintained by a Columbarium Board appointed by the Pastor and operated in accordance with By-laws and Operating Procedures approved by the Diocese. In addition to Father Ray Powell, the Board Members are Ronald Bugos (865) 483-6794, Lawrence O’Rourke (865) 294-5602, Cande Seay (865) 483-3993, and Committee members Richard Sample (865-243-0424) and Jacob Harmon (865-405-1250).
